At approximately 7:15 am today, Temple Fire and Rescue responded to smoke coming from the gymnasium at Raye-Allen Elementary. Students and staff implemented evacuation procedures as a precautionary safety measure. The evacuation lasted approximately 40 minutes and all normal campus activities were resumed.
It was determined that the source of the smoke was an air conditioning unit on the roof of the gym. Repairs to the unit are underway.

Give a little time, get a lot in return.
It only takes two hours a month to make a huge difference in the life of a child. Mentoring helps kids stay off drugs, out of gangs and in school. Mentors help kids think BIG so they can fulfill their dreams. The best part is, you’ll not only see what it does for them, you’ll feel what it does for YOU.

Morgan’s Point Dive Team member Bill Ford visited Raye-Allen today to teach our fifth grade students about density. He described the weight (mass) and air that is needed to reach parts of our lake. He showed equipment and demonstrated how to use it.
Mr. Ford’s presentation helped make a real-life connection to the concepts being taught to our fifth grade students. He shared slides and videos from his dives. Our awesome Eagle students stayed engaged and excited! By the end of the presentation, many of our fifth graders were ready to go for a dive.
A special THANK YOU to Mr. Hine for coordinating this special presentation on our campus today. THANK YOU Mr. Ford for taking the time to visit! Our students loved it and learned a lot.
We had our Early Act First Knight introduction ceremony today. Our students are excited about this awesome opportunity! Thank you Temple Rotary South for providing this great program for our school.
